Dennerle System for Fascinating Aquariums
At Harrogate Aquatic we encourage you to succeed! We supply some of the leading brands in Aquatic systems and accessories to help you create the aquarium of your dreams.
To maintain healthy plant growth and create a living aquascape, where fish and plants live in harmony, we have teamed up with the German manufacturer, Dennerle.
All you need to do is follow Dennerle's 7 golden rules and your aquarium will be transformed into a vibrant underwater biotope.
Substrate
First of all, lay out a substrate heating cable, 1-3 watts for every 10 litres. On top of this, place 1.5-3 cm of DEPONIT-Mix - the more the better. Layers of up to 6cm promote growth immensely. Cover this with 3-6 cm of washed crystal quartz gravel, 1-2mm grade. In this way you will be able to guarantee the vitally important substrate circulation in your aquarium, thus simulating natural slow-release nutrient sources and turning the whole substrate into a biological filter system.
Water
Ensure that the water has at least 2°dkH (carbonate hardness) and it will be sufficiently 'buffered'. For the safe removal of all harmful substances, change the water regularly (do not forget the BIOGRUN!). TR7, the natural peat bark extract, will see to it that the colors of your fish radiate more intensely, and it also prevents algae growth.
Heating
Make sure the substrate is as warm as in the tropics for your aquatic plants; Heating cables are available for both large and small aquariums. A water heater will heat the water to a tropical temperature for your fish. The tried-and-tested DUOMAT dual-purpose thermostat regulates both heating systems electronically by means of a state-of-the-art sequential circuit.
Filtration
In your aquarium you will need:
- a bio-mechanical rapid filtration system for collecting dirt and clarifying the water
- a bio-active slow filtration system for breaking down the harmful substances that accumulate with the aid of useful micro-organisms
Lighting
Plants need light to grow, and in doing so they supply the oxygen that your fish need to survive. It is best to light an aquarium artificially and thus create a controlled daily cycle. TROCAL fluorescent tubes have proven their worth for aquariums. They are available in 5 different light colors and also come with UV protection.
Plants
To begin with, use plenty of fast- growing aquatic plants. Ideally, they should cover approx 80% of the substrate. Growing plants will soon create healthy water conditions for fish, and stabilize the 'biological equilibrium', thus effectively preventing algae growth.
Fertilisation
A finely-tuned fertilisation system is very important:
- Daily CO2 fertilization
- Add S7 to supply trace elements and vitamins on a weekly basis as well as PFLANZENGOLD-7, the growth promoter
- Alternating every two weeks, add E15 iron fertilizer and V30 special fertilizer - they will guarantee the supply of fresh, vigorous micro and macronutrients
